New euro guidelines for consumers have been published by the European Consumer Centre (ECC). The issues are explained in two simple leaflets - The Euro and The Euro and You - that are available free.

The easy-to-understand brochures use typical examples affecting consumers' daily lives including some typical grocery items, with prices displayed in euros as well as in Irish pounds. The EU rules for conversion between Irish pounds and the euro are also explained.

As part of its ongoing efforts to make information on consumer issues accessible to as wide an audience as possible, the ECC is adapting its website to the needs of the blind and visually impaired.
