Musgrave Cash & Carry has bought two catering suppliers in Donegal and Cork and has confirmed it is entering into a joint venture with Fanning in the south-east.
The two acquisitions of Maxwell's of Donegal and O'Connor and Toal in Cork are both for undisclosed sums.
Both companies service hotels, restaurants and catering facilities around their home counties.
According to Mr Frank Coughlan, managing director of Musgrave Cash & Carry, the move is a reflection of Musgrave's strategic development programme in the food services sector.
The cash-and-carry division of Musgrave also announced it is entering into an agreement with Fannings Cash & Carry of Waterford.
Fannings, one of the largest cash and carries outside the Musgrave group, will allow Musgrave to take a majority shareholding. The minority interest will remain with the family. No jobs will be affected in the immediate term, both companies said.
