Vue Entertainment, the UK’s leading developer and operator of state-of-the-art multiplex cinemas, has agreed to open a venue in the new Spring Cross centre in Ballymun, Treasury Holdings said yesterday.
Vue operates one of Ireland’s biggest cinema complexes at Liffey Valley, Dublin.
Treasury is behind the Spring Cross development which is aimed at boosting the regeneration of the Ballymun area.
Work on Spring Cross will begin in mid 2011, Treasury said. Niall Kavanagh, director of development for Treasury, said the agreement with Vue is great news for the Spring Cross project, Ballymun and North Dublin.
He said there was a distinct lack of leisure and retail outlets in this part of Dublin and that phase one of Spring Cross would provide such facilities.
