The Esat Digifone billing saga continues this week with a caller to the Margin claiming to be the first victim of the Millennium Bug problem. Having updated its billing periods, Esat issued a Returned Payment Notice to the caller whose credit card had a March 2000 expiry date, encoded as 03/00. The new, dinky automatic billing system was having none of it, although the caller was subsequently assured (by a human) that the problem would not reoccur. The Margin is open to other claims for the Early Millennium Bug prize.
