STOCKS rallied into the close yesterday, shrugging off some profit taking to boost several market measures further into record territory as interest rates fell again in bond trading.

On Wall Street, the Dow Jones industrial average rose 35.03 points to close at 6,094.23 a new high for the fourth time this week.

Advancing issues outnumbered fallers by nearly a nine to seven margin, with 1,347 up, 1,054 down and 838 unchanged.

Volume totalled 467.94 million shares The S and P 500 rose 3.83 to 710.82, its fourth new high this week, and the NYSE's composite index rose 1.91 to 378.32, its second straight record.
