BLUE chip share prices declined yesterday in quiet trading dominated by investors selling off stocks to lock in profits on the last trading day of the first fiscal quarter.

The Dow Jones index of 30 leading industrials shed 43.71 points to close at 5,587.14.

On the bond market, the rate on the bellwether 30 year Treasury bond fell to 6.66 per cent from 6.73 per cent on Thursday.

On the broader New York Stock Exchange, advancers out paced losers 1,279 to 1,050 with 771 issues unchanged. Some 415 million shares changed hands.
