Frankfurt DAX: 5393.14 (+31.92)

The Frankfurt stock market gained ground thanks mainly to a stronger dollar, traders said as the DAX index finished at 5393.14 points, up 0.6 per cent from the Thursday close.

Despite the gain, the market had no marked trend because of a lack of indications from abroad.

Paris CAC-40: 3990.23 (-21.75)

The Paris Bourse finished the week off with a moderate loss in dull trading as the CAC-40 index fell below the 4,000-point level, off 0.54 per cent from the Thursday close. The indicator had been up by 0.26 per cent at the opening. Volume came to 9.5 billion francs.

Milan Mibtel: 23978 (+34)

Milan stocks rose by 0.14 per cent on the day with the strength of ENI and Pirelli offsetting weakness among the banks as Banco di Roma and BCI dampened rumours of a merger.
