Shares recovered some ground in after-hours electronic trading after the Greenspan-inspired sell-off that knocked 4 per cent off the market in official trading. The IBIS DAX closed on 2832.53, responding to the recovery on Wall Street.
Paris CAC-40: 2240.72 (-51.78)
French shares closed down more than 2 per cent in huge volumes after a mass sell-off following the remarks by Federal Reserve chairman Mr Alan Greenspan. At one stage the CAC was as low as 2180.
Milan Mibtel: 10328 (-209)
The Italian market pared some of its early losses and overall the market suffered less from the Greenspan comments than most other European markets.
