Mainstream Renewable Power, the Irish wind and solar developer that has struck two Chinese deals in the past year, expects to announce a third as it studies a listing in the world’s biggest energy-consuming nation.
Mainstream chief executive Eddie O’Connor said the company planned to install solar panels made by China-based Suntech Power Holdings at projects in South Africa, starting with a 50-megawatt plant at Droogfontein. “Any other project that we might win in South Africa will be Suntech as well,” he said.
The Dublin-based developer already has US and European contracts with China’s Sinovel Wind Group and Xinjiang Goldwind Science and Technology. – (Bloomberg)
