British telecommunications group Logica, which recently purchased the Dublin company Aldiscon for £57 million, has plans for its new subsidiary that could lead to the creation of up to 50 jobs. Logica yesterday reported a 14 per cent rise in pre-tax profits to £28.1 million sterling (£29.9 million) from £24.7 million. Turnover at the information technology consultancy and software group rose by 19 per cent to £338.5 million in the year to the end of June, compared with £284.8 million the previous year.
Logica's corporate development director, Mr Mario Anid, stressed the company was very committed to developing its new Irish subsidiary.
"Six weeks on we are happy to say we have found no surprises. The business is in good shape and morale is high," Mr Anid said. Aldiscon had plans to increase its workforce from 240 to nearly 300 before the acquisition. Logica intended to focus on developing several areas, according to Mr Anid. Some of its staff have already begun working with Aldiscon's telecommunications team to develop opportunities in Dublin's banking and utilities sector.
