While the contents of Mary Harney's affidavit on the Anbacher accounts have been well digested, their publication last week is sure to have left more than a few people in need of a stiff drink.

Whether Mr Justice Johnson of the High Court was anticipating this before the affidavit was read to his court is a matter of conjecture. In the hearing prior to the Anbacher business, he granted an injunction in favour of the maker of Capri Sun fruit juices preventing Dunnes Stores from continuing to supply its Cool Sun juices in boxes similar to those used by Capri Sun.

As is the practice in such hearings, copious exhibits of both products were provided to the judge. The bench was almost inundated with juice.

Mr Justice Johnson made the following request at the end of the hearing: Should counsel for Capri Sun choose to submit a similar amount of fare at a future date, would they please ensure that they were working for a liquor firm.
