The High Court has ordered the winding up of construction firm John F Supple on grounds it is insolvent and unable to pay its debts.

Ms Justice Mary Laffoy appointed accountant Edmond Cahill official liquidator to the company, established by Barry Supple in 1987 and with registered offices at Bishopstown, Cork.

Peter Russell, a liquidator appointed to Standard Piping, a creditor of the firm, had sought the winding up order over non-payment of €75,000 on foot of a judgement obtained against John F Supple in January 2012. A demand for payment was made last September.

The court heard the Supple company also has obligations in relation to a bank asset of €20m transferred to Nama. Lawyers for Nama said it was neither consenting nor objecting to the order.
