TELLABS, one of the top 20 leading telecommunication firms in the US, announced a Pounds 20 million extension to its Shannon Industrial Estate plant yesterday, which will employ an extra 210 people.

It is planned that the new 135,000 sq ft plant for the manufacture of telecommunications equipment will be ready next summer. Already the company employs 260 people at Shannon, of whom 80 are involved in research and development.
