Good to see the once indefatigable ISME is trying to put its current bitter in-fighting to one side and get on with the business it does best - issuing press releases on items it considers to be of relevance to its public. It was with some interest the Margin read one of its missives on Wednesday, concerning the controversial issue of paying those who work next New Year's Eve. ISME wants the Government to forego tax and PRSI on payments made to employees who work that day, or night, describing the measure as a "small gesture".
But the Margin noticed an equally small gesture of ISME's very own. The headed notepaper, on which the press release was issued contained a list of directors of ISME Ltd, the holding company for the organisation. Tippexed out is the name of Don Curry, a former chairman and one of ISME's founders and trustees, who the directors sacked recently.
Mr Curry, it appears, has been airbrushed, or rather tippexed from the organisation's history. It is understood that Mr Curry is taking legal advice on his removal from the board, so it might be wise for ISME to hold onto the headed notepaper for a while yet!
