ISEQ to stay at 5,300 but some stocks will rise

Goodbody stockbrokers suggest the Irish market is unlikely to rise much further this year

Goodbody stockbrokers suggest the Irish market is unlikely to rise much further this year. At the end of 1998, it predicts the ISEQ Index won't be materially different from current levels of around 5,300, but maintains a strong view on the relative merits of individual sectors and stocks to make gains. Its latest bag of recommendations in the industrial sector include: Elan, CRH, Waterford Wedgwood, Kingspan, Viridian, Greencore, Smurfit, Golden Vale, Fyffes and Iona.

Among the financials, it continues to recommend AIB and Anglo Irish Bank.
