Industrial production was up 13 per cent in volume in January compared to the same month in 1997, with pharmaceutical production rising by more than 49 per cent, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office. The seasonally adjusted data indicated that production for the three months ending January 1998 was 2.1 per cent above that for the three months ended October, 1997, with the pharmaceutical sector accounting for two-thirds of the overall increase.
