Industrial turnover in transportable goods industries fell by 11.6 per cent in October 2001 when compared with the same month in 2000. The unadjusted figures for August to October 2001, when compared with the same three-month period in 2000, show there were rises of 5.5 per cent for consumer goods and 2.7 per cent for intermediate products. A drop of 16.7 per cent was recorded for capital goods. The sharpest rise was in "medical, precision and optical instruments, watches and clocks", where turnover rose by 23.7 per cent in the period. The sharpest fall was in "radio, television and communication equipment and apparatus", where turnover fell by 30.7 per cent in the period.
