DV4 develops webcasting for Kellogg's
Digital media developer DV4 has produced a webcasting system for cereal company Kellogg's.
The online video presentation, with interactive supporting materials, allowed Kellogg’s management in Ireland to deliver a live webcast to colleagues across Europe.
Kellogg’s now plans to use webcasts regularly for its pan-European corporate meetings and presentations.
Award for arrest of Conficker creator
Microsoft is offering a $250,000 (€197,000) award for information that will lead to the arrest of the author or authors of the Conficker worm, the virus which has been wreaking havoc on PCs globally in recent weeks.
Experts at anti-virus firm Sophos have questioned whether the bounty is large enough “to encourage someone to inform on an organised criminal gang, making large amounts of money out of malware”.
MyWeb Shop turnkey at Digiweb
Broadband and hosting provider Digiweb has introduced MyWeb Shop, an extension of Digiweb’s existing MyWeb software, which provides a turnkey solution for small to medium businesses that want to start selling online.
Priced at €100 to €220 a year, it integrates with PayPal for accepting payments and includes 20GB of website hosting space, hundreds of e-mail addresses, a domain name and free phone and e-mail support.
Nine million ECDLs now awarded
European Commission president José Manuel Barroso was this week presented with the nine millionth European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) at an event in Brussels to mark the success of the ECDL programme and the necessity of keeping investment in digital skills high on the public policy agenda.
5% discount for old computer hardware
Online computer and electronics retailer Komplett. ie is offering a 5 per cent discount to customers who return old functional computer equipment, to promote recycling.
The discount applies to both business and consumer customers who return or endeavour to return equipment such as old PCs, laptops and monitors.
Contract for Credit Union back-up won
Online back-up provider keepITsafe and computer network specialist NSSL have won a contract to provide a back-up system to over 200 credit unions over the next 18 months. KeepITsafe has deployed technology to an initial 20 credit unions in the last six months.
