Petroceltic plugs Tunisian well
Irish exploration firm Petroceltic International is to abandon a well in Tunisia.
The Oryx-1 exploration well reached a total depth of 1,140 metres, but failed to discover any significant oil saturation in the reservoirs at this location.
Petroceltic said it would be plugged and abandoned, without testing, and the rig would be moved to drill at Sidi Toui-4. The company said it had no financial exposure in the 2010 Ksar Hadada programme, with both Oryx-1 and Sidi Toui-4 part of the work programme in the PetroAsian Energy Holdings farm-in agreement.
Blackberry asked to block porn sites
Kuwait has asked Blackberry maker Research in Motion (RIM) to block pornographic sites although will not suspend services as other Gulf states have threatened to do, a local newspaper has reported.
Research in Motion had given “initial approval” to block 3,000 pornography sites at the request of Kuwait’s communications ministry, al-Jarida said yesterday.
Research in Motion had also agreed to give India’s security authorities the right to monitor e-mail on the phone, a newspaper in India reported yesterday. – (Reuters)
Ormonde’s gold prospects glisten
Irish-listed exploration company Ormonde Mining says that a report by independent consultants CSA Global indicates there is significant potential for gold mineralisation at its prospects in the Spanish province of Salamanca.
Managing director Kerr Anderson said the best way to advance its programme on gold properties would be through a joint venture, as it was currently focusing on its tungsten in Salamanca.
The stock gained more than 4 per cent in Dublin, bringing it to five cents.
