Arriving at Newbridge Networks six months ago:
The place was lacking leadership. There was a bit of the emperor's new clothes going on. Everyone knew what was going on but nobody was saying it.
Replacing under-performers:
I try to relate a lot of things to sport: if I am the manager, if the crowd can see that that guy is rubbish, eventually it reflects on me.
On managerial infallibility:
The danger with a lot of people when they get to this level is they think their farts do not smell. They start believing their own press releases.
The work day:
I work unbelievable hours I would say, but I love it.
The work pace:
I could not keep this pace up forever. No way. I have to be very selfish about weekends now.
The future for bandwidth providers:
The Internet is driving insatiable demand for bandwidth.
The digital revolution:
Today is only a fraction of what is coming. Today is like the first TVs and they were black and white and you thought they were great, and now you are getting 36-inch colour.
