The ICMSA has called for the appointment of an examiner to the financially-troubled European Forestry Growers company to protect the interests of farmers who are owed money. ICMSA deputy president, Mr Pat O'Rourke, said yesterday the organisation had received professional advice which suggested that an application to the High Court to appoint an examiner should be very seriously considered. He also called on the Minister of State for forestry policy, Mr Hugh Byrne, to move to protect the interests of farmers. The directors of European Forestry Growers are seeking to appoint a liquidator to the company next week.
