THE Government should pass legislation preventing Irish solicitors from advertising designed to capitalise on a "claims culture", the employers' lobby IBEC has said.
In a statement, IBEC said such a measure was needed urgently to address "the spiral of opportunistic, spurious and other types of inappropriate claims" being made against employers and the State.
The group complained that the current edition of the Golden Pages contains more than 40 fullpage advertisements by solicitors using "terminology likely to increase the number of claims for personal injury", such as "Most cases settled out of court" and "We will post you our compensation claims brochure on request".
