THE HIGH Court has appointed David Carson of Deloitte as examiner to Future Print Ltd, the Dublin-based printing company.
Future Print successfully sought High Court protection from its creditors at a hearing on March 26th, when an independent accountants’ report prepared by Grant Thornton showed that it had a reasonable prospect of survival.
Mr Justice Frank Clarke yesterday made an order appointing Mr Carson as examiner to the business. He will have up to 100 days to come up with a rescue plan.
One of the principal reasons cited for the difficulties facing Future Print was the awarding of State and semi-State contracts to companies in Britain and Spain.
A shortfall in requested bank funding; recent bad debts; the lower VAT rate in Northern Ireland; higher production costs in the South and a tightening of credit by the company’s suppliers were also cited as contributing to cashflow difficulties.
