Hewlett-Packard appoints manager

MR Paul Acton has been appointed Hewlett-Packard's e-commerce business development manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Mr Acton was formerly a senior account manager for Hewlett-Packard Ireland. He also spent seven years working with IBM Ireland.

Gateway has appointed Mr James Hobby as vice-president of client care for its European, Middle Eastern and African operations. Mr Hobby will be based at Gateway's headquarters in Dublin. Mr Hobby previously worked as head of European customer services centres across Europe for American Express.

Microsoft Ireland has appointed Mr Denis Neavyn as strategic business development manager. He will be responsible for business development in the small and medium enterprises sector.

Ms Lisa Browne has become sponsorship manager at Bank of Ireland. She was previously employed as sponsorship manager in Eircell and as brand manager for Tipperary Natural Mineral Water.

Mr Dave Constant is the new director of technology with RTE. Mr Constant joined RTE in 1973 as an engineer and introduced computer automation to RTE's television presentation operations in the early 1990s. He will be involved in the establishment of RTE's new digital services.

Ms Maeve Kneafsey has been appointed chief executive of the Hoson Publishing Company, which publishes several magazines, including Magill, In Dublin, HighBall, Gaelsport and dot.ie. Ms Kneafsey has previously worked for VNU Publishing in Britain and the Sunday Tribune.

The former chief executive of Saatchi & Saatchi, Mr Brian Dunnion, has joined Trinity Commerce, the e-commerce and software integration provider, as commercial director. Saatchi & Saatchi announced it was closing its Dublin office some months ago.

The Animal and Plant Health Association has made Mr Tom Reilly of Elanco Animal Health its new chairman. The association is the representative body of manufacturers and distributors of animal and plant health products in the Republic.

Ms Karen O'Keeffe has been appointed a senior account executive at Edelman Healthcare Communications. Ms O'Keeffe previously worked with Fleishman-Hillard Saunders where she handled a range of health-care and consumer accounts.
