Twenty new jobs for Cork fertility clinic

SIMS IVF clinic in Mahon will employ 20 people

Twenty new jobs are to be created with the opening of a new fertility clinic in a suburb on the southside of Cork city.

The recently opened SIMS IVF clinic at Citygate, Mahon currently employs eight people with twelve new positions being recruited in the coming months. Some €3 million was invested in the expansion in Cork. SIMS is the owner of Ireland’s largest private fertility treatment unit at Clonskeagh in Dublin, and the company was founded in Dublin in 1997.

Co-founder and CEO, Dr David Walsh said World Health Organisation statistics for Ireland show that one in five people have fertility issues.

“In fact, we have the highest infertility rate in Europe, largely due to pregnancy being delayed until relatively late in life. Treatments include IVF, sperm donation, donor egg treatment, reproductive immunology, and EEVA, the Early Embryo Viability Assessment test.”
