Don't you just hate it when people, evil ganglords for example, use their mobile phones when they are not supposed to, to run their mafia-style criminal empires from inside prison for example? Scoff-laws such as these will chat on cellphones anywhere - in hospital cardiac units, on aircraft, in courtrooms, or in banks while arranging robberies. They will even use a mobile as a bugging device, leaving a call open while a collaborator at the other end of the line eavesdrops on a confidential business meeting.
But now the game is up for these self-obsessed individuals, with the new CellPhone Detector. Simply place the small device beside the "Please switch off your mobile phone" sign, and wait. The machine will note any cell-phone use, and can be programmed to respond in different ways. It could emit a piercing shriek, then say in a robotic voice: "Turn that thing off, pal!" It could flash a red light. Or it could silently alert security.
The CellPhone Detector, ( ), is available from Air Call in Clonskeagh, Dublin, telephone (01) 2056123.
