Independent Newspapers has appointed Mr Gavin O'Reilly as deputy managing director of the company. Mr O'Reilly is the son of Dr Tony O'Reilly, the chairman of Independent Newspapers. Mr Gavin O'Reilly has also been appointed a director of the company.

His former post of director of production has been taken over by Mr Alf McGrath, current director of human resources. Mr McGrath becomes director of production and human resources. Mr Brendan McCabe, group advertisement director and Mr Barry Brennan, group marketing director have also been appointed to the board.
