Gateway, which employs more than 1,600 people at its Clonshaugh facility in Dublin, has announced that 30 jobs in its telesales division are to go although staff will be moved to other areas within the company, such as text support, within Gateway Ireland or sales jobs in one of the Gateway retail stores opening throughout Europe. The company has already opened stores in Britain and there are plans to open stores in Dublin and in other European cities next year.

The staff are being re-deployed because of the expected seasonal slowdown in sales after the usual fourth-quarter peak.
