Gartner Group, the international information technology group, is expected to announce the acquisition of the Cork-based National Institute of Management Technology (NIMT) later today.

NIMT, which was originally known as the Executive Systems Research Centre and has been affiliated at different times to University College Cork and the Cork Institute of Technology, was founded in 1991 as one of four centres of expertise in the national software programme in advanced technology.
