ESAT Telecom has appointed Ms Lucy Gaffney as managing director of its new residential division, which will provide telecommunications services to homes around the State from December 1st, 1998.

Ms Gaffney is currently marketing director with Esat Telecom and a director and board member of Dublin radio station, 98 FM.

Post GEM/Ireland On-Line, the Internet service provider group, owned by An Post, has made four new appointments.

Ms Angela Keegan, who is moving from Gateway 2000, is the group's new sales manager and will be responsible for the development of the sales function at both organisations. Mr Paul Daffern is the new head of finance, IT and administration, while Mr Colm Codd has become IT manager after leaving his position as IT solutions manager with Wrendata.

Mr Justin Verrechia becomes corporate sales manager he will be responsible for developing national and international network services and electronic commerce solutions.

The Taoiseach, Mr Ahern, has appointed Ms Josephine Feehily as the first female revenue commissioner. Ms Feehily has been an assistant secretary in the Revenue for almost five years and is a former head of the Revenue's human resources division.

Mr Norman Gillanders has been appointed to the post of assistant secretary, in charge of indirect taxation policy and legislation, at the Revenue Commissioners.

Mr Gillanders has been a principal in Revenue for the past three years in charge of VAT policy and legislation.

Andersen Consulting has named Ms Philippa Taafe as recruitment manager for its Dublin office. Before joining Andersen Consulting Ms Taafe was employed as human resource and development manager at the London office of Mobile Systems International.

Ms Geraldine Murphy is the new sales manager of Fitzpatrick Cork Hotel, where she will be responsible for the development and co-ordination of all sales activity for the hotel.

Dr Mary Redmond has joined the board of Campbell Bewley Group. Dr Redmond is already on the board of Jefferson Smurfit and a member of the court of Bank of Ireland. She was the founder of the Irish Hospice Foundation.

Mr Tom Keating has been appointed Compaq country manager for Ireland. This follows from the worldwide merger of Compaq and Digital and the integration of the sales and marketing operations of the two companies in Ireland.

Mr Keating will manage a team of 350 employees covering Compaq's sales, marketing and support teams throughout the Republic and Northern Ireland. He has also been appointed a director of Compaq UK.

The managing director of Gilbeys Ireland, Mr Jim Clerkin, has become the chairman of the Wine & Spirit Association of Ireland, the representative body for importers, producers and wholesalers.

Mr Clerkin was general manager of Gilbeys of Northern Ireland, prior to taking up his current position in 1994.
