German shares closed marginally higher yesterday, boosted by a strong German debt market, a firmer dollar and a positive opening on Wall Street.
Despite the gains, a holiday mood prevailed ahead of the four-day Easter weekend, dealers said.

French shares closed at a fresh 19-month high yesterday and added another 0.72 per cent to Monday's high to close at the highest level since August 29th, 1994. Prices were boosted by a firmer franc, signs of economic recovery and bid rumours.

Italian shares finally shook off worries over the outcome of the general election and turned to the higher move by domestic bonds and the lira for inspiration, and slowly edged up throughout quiet afternoon trading.
But business was still generally lacklustre, with many foreign investors still keeping a low profile ahead of the April 21st election.
