Germany's share market posted modest gains yesterday but lacked energy for a fresh advance due to a consolidative tone in the market.
The Xetra Dax, which reflects all-day computer dealings, was up 22.01 points at 4,172.32 but off its session peak.
The 30-share Dax ended 74.71 points higher, reflecting the Xetra Dax's late gains on Tuesday.

French shares closed lower as the Dow unwound modest gains due to an unpleasant earnings surprise from Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing (3M).
Insurer AGF closed down 2.76 per cent at 317.10 francs in turnover of 1.38 billion as investors baled out ahead of an imminent pact between rival bidders Allianz of Germany and Generali of Italy over the French insurer.
