Frankfurt Dax: 2799.19 (+35.50)
In Frankfurt, German shares ended floor trading at a record high, just below the psychological 2,800 barrier, and in after hours electronic trading the IBIS DAX index also nudged its previous trading peak. The market was boosted by Deutsche Telekom, floated last week in the largest share sale in European history. It was the heaviest traded stock and ended up 3 per cent as initial profit taking waned.
Paris CAC-40:2277.14 (+21.67)
On the Paris bourse French shares traded up 1 per cent up as bulls continued to push the bourse higher, adding to its near 1 per cent climb on Friday. Stock buying on the first day of the account helped, as did hopes of a continuation of Wall Street's succession of record highs.

Italian shares drifted lower at the close as euphoria over the lira's return to the ERM soon wore off to be replaced by worries over its effect on exporters and concern over a possible trial of the Prime Minister, Mr Romano Prodi.
