The Republic's first online toy catalogue, Magic Lamp (www.magiclamp.ie), has begun trading in time for Christmas. Although slow to download, the site has the advantage of lower delivery charges - within five days - for its 500 toys.

Developed with a £100,000 Government grant, the site's founder, Ms Eugenie Houston, expects it to offer 5,000 products within a year.
