Fexco founder and executive chairman Brian McCarthy has won Cork chamber’s outstanding achievement award at the organisation’s annual Dublin dinner in the Burlington Hotel.
Mr McCarthy set up Fexco in Killorglin, Co Kerry, in the 1980s following a 20-year career with AIB.
The company has evolved from a foreign exchange business to a global payments processor and services business.
Fexco employs 1,700 people across its operations in Ireland, Britain, the US, Asia Pacific, Australia and the Middle East. It owns a majority stake in Goodbody Stockbrokers and recently bought UK rival, Number 1 Currency.
About 450 people attended the event last night.
