THE Minister for Finance, Mr Quinn, has published sections of the Finance Bill to clear the way for consolidation of the Income Tax, Corporation Tax and Capital Gains Tax Acts planned for next year. The published sections deal mainly with technical issues. The last major consolidation of tax legislation took place in 1967. The purpose of publishing the sections is to signal that the consolidation process is well under way, alert taxpayers and practitioners to the main issues and invite interested parties to come forward with suggestions, according to a statement from the Minister.
