Was a former associate director of Guinness & Mahon bank, where he maintained "memorandum accounts" which kept track of individual account holders funds within the Ansbacher deposits.
Why he is in the news: Likely to be a key source of information for the Moriarty tribunal, which is investigating the finances of the former Taoiseach, Mr Charles Haughey. Mr Haughey's living expenses were paid out of accounts in the Ansbacher deposits by way of a system in which Mr Collery played a key role. He is also aware of the names of other account holders who had money in the Ansbacher deposits and could be of assistance to any investigation assigned the task of identifying individual account holders.
