The Irish Exporters' Association has called for the appointment of "a supremo" or a minister responsible for all aspects of transport to oversee developments to improve access to Dublin port, warning that the growing bottleneck was a "time bomb". It has also called for an acceleration of the timetable for the port tunnel. The association, which held its annual general meeting yesterday, said there were three ministries Environment, Public Enterprise and Marine dealing with different modes of transport.

"The current situation does not lend itself to a co-ordinated plan to alleviate the growing problem," Mr Pat Murphy, the association's president, said. See page 2
