The Euro Changeover Board of Ireland has circulated 1.3 million leaflets on the single currency to every household in the State. Speaking to the Leinster Society of Chartered Accountants, board chairman, Mr Philip Hamell stressed that the changeover date was imminent and people must be prepared.

On top of the leaflets, the board has also distributed 80,000 posters around schools, libraries and public offices.

Mr Hamell added that he was now devising plans to ensure widespread publicity of the conversion rate of the pound to the euro when it is decided on January 1st, 1999.
