WALL Street stocks ended in record high territory again yesterday after waffling throughout the session as investors took profits following rises to record highs over the last few sessions.

Today, the US government will report its October wholesale price index. On Thursday, the consumer price index will be released, as well as retail sales figures, and on Friday, the market will see industrial production and factory-use data for October.

Investors hope the reports will give a sign about whether the Federal Reserve is likely to change interest rates before the end of the year. The Fed's policy committee meets tomorrow, but is not expected to take any action on interest rates at that time.

The Standard and Poor's 500-stock index fell 2.31 to 729.56, and the NYSE's composite index fell 0.65 to 386.18. The Nasdaq composite index fell 5.99 to 1256.68, but the American Stock Exchange's market value index rose 1.91 to 581.64.
