Mr Arthur Walls, deputy chairman of Clerys, has died aged 74. Mr Walls had been on the board of Clerys for 30 years.
He retired as chief executive in 1992 but remained on as deputy chairman.
He was also general manager of Aer Lingus and retired after 25 years in the mid-1970s. During his career he was also managing director of RTD Group. He held many other directorships including Ryanair, Dublin Zoo and was chairman of Dublin Crystal.
He was also a fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Transport.
Mr Walls is survived by his wife Margaret, his daughters Ann, Brenda and Sheila, his son David, and grandchildren.
As a mark of respect all branches of Clerys will remain closed tomorrow until 1 p.m.
The removal will take place this evening to St John The Baptist Church in Clontarf at 5 p.m. The funeral Mass takes place tomorrow at 10 a.m.
