Frankfurt DAX: 3460.59 (+24.52)
Bulls continued to hold sway on the German share market, as the DAX index surged in bourse trade to end the session at its second consecutive closing high. The DAX ended up 24.52 points at 3,460.59 points, having earlier hit an intra-day high of 3,474.98, and dealers said an imminent breach of its next key resistance level at 3,500 was on the cards.
Paris CAC-40: 2686.15 (-23.06)
French shares ended lower after a gust of profit-taking took the Paris bourse back in late afternoon trading. Traders said a slip in the dollar against the deutschmark, later corrected, sent a signal for investors to book profits on some of the market's recent strong rise. The blue-chip CAC-40 index closed down 23.06 points at 2,686.15.
Milan Mibtel: 12080 (-46)
Italian shares closed mostly lower, dragged down by the weakness of the bond futures market and a spate of profit-taking on Wall Street which took the wind out of European stock-markets.
