Thomas Crosbie Holdings, publisher of several provincial newspapers, has reported pretax profits of £2.04 million for 1997, compared to £923,000 the previous year.

The company is wholly owned by the Crosbie family which also owns Examiner Publications, publisher of the Examiner and the Evening Echo which last month reported profits of £2.24 million. Thomas Crosbie Holdings comprises: the Western People, Waterford News & Star, Sligo Weekender, Mid-West and NorthWest radio and several property and forestry interests.
