CRH and Viridian have confirmed they are setting up a joint venture company to build a power station at Huntstown, north Co Dublin.

In a statement, the companies said the design of the power station was "well advanced" and planning permission was currently being sought from Fingal County Council.

The planning permission is for two combined cycle gas turbine generation units of up to 300 megawatts each.
