American oil and gas company Exxon Neftegas has awarded Irish engineering outfit Kentz a $50 million contract to provide personnel, equipment, transportation, front end execution planning and subcontractor resources within the Sakhalin 1 development project in Far East Russia.
This shutdown services and operations support contract falls under Kentz's Technical Support Services global business unit and will be executed through its Russian joint venture operating company Kentz DEM.
The shutdown is scheduled to take place in July 2013 and will peak at a total workforce of approximately 600 personnel.
Kentz and DEM first cooperated together in 2004 under a strategic partnership agreement before officially incorporating their joint venture in 2008.
Kentz chief operating officer Michael Murphy said: "Kentz is delighted to have been chosen again to support Exxon Neftegas with its second major shutdown on the Sakhalin 1 development, following the delivery of a very successful first shutdown in late 2010.
Earlier this year, Kentz was awarded the $128 million contract for Syncrude’s Aurora North Mine Relocation project, expanding its Canadian operations.
It also won a 12-month contract for integrated commissioning services on the Queensland Curtis project in Australia, which comes with an option to extend the contract for a further two years.
