Dublin 10th dearest
DUBLIN is the 10th most expensive city in the world to park your car in, according to Colliers' first ever global parking rate survey. Leading the list is London, both The City and the West End. Monthly parking rates in The City topped the list at €751 with the West End in second place at €731. Dublin was in 10th place at €320. However, Dublin climbs further up the list in the European parking list, coming fourth behind The City and the West End and then Stockholm. Nick Coveney of Colliers Jackson Stops estimates that it cost from €35,000 to €40,000 to build new parking spaces in Dublin city centre.
Pension firm in IFSC move
EUROBEN Life and Pensions, which provides pensions for the staff of multinational companies, has leased 220sq m (2,368sq ft) of office space on the ground floor of La Touche House in the IFSC in Dublin. The letting was arranged by Simon McEvoy of Jones Lang LaSalle on behalf of Warren and Partners. Euroben Life and Pensions, which is part of the Storebrand Group and has its HQ in Ireland and a branch in Sweden, is taking the space on a new 10-year lease. Part of the first floor of La Touche House is still available for lease at an annual rent of €592 per sq m (€55 per sq ft), either in one lot of 550sq m (5,920sq ft) or in two areas of at least 200sq m (2,152sq ft). The offices have a high car parking ratio.
Harvey Norman to open in D12
AUSTRALIAN retailer Harvey Norman is to open a new outlet at Park West Industrial Park on the Nangor Road in Dublin 12. The multiple will be paying a rent of €107 per sq m (€10 per sq ft) for a store of 6,038sq m (65,000sq ft). It will be its 12th store in Ireland; a further four are planned.Chris Bogle of Bogle Estates advised Harvey Norman and David O'Malley of Savills HOK acted for the landlord, Harcourt Developments.
Two Kilkenny sites on market
KILKENNY agent DNG Ella Dunphy has two top class redevelopment sites in the John Street area of Kilkenny city centre. She is seeking around €4 million for 34/35 John Street, an area of almost one acre which backs directly on to Wolfe Tone car park. The site is ideal for a mixed retail, office and residential development. She is also looking for €2.5 million for Wongs at 73 and 74 John Street. The Georgian retail premises extends to 204sq m (2,200sq ft) and stands on a site of 0.075 of an acre. It adjoins the City Hall and is close to McDonagh Junction shopping centre.
