RETAIL MARKET: DUNNES STORES is continuing with its aggressive expansion programme with plans to anchor the planned Slade Castle shopping centre in Saggart, Co Dublin.
Dunnes will occupy a store of 1,471sq m (15,834sq ft) to incorporate a food court, fashion and home furnishings.
The centre will also have a further 1,116sq m (12,013sq ft) of retail space as well a bar, off-licence, a restaurant of 731sq m (7,868sq ft), a medical centre of 598sq m (6,437sq ft) and 377sq m (4,058sq ft) of offices.
Austin McHale's Gary Aron Homes plans to sell or lease all the units through joint agents Colm McEvoy Commercial and Weir and Company.
Rents have been set at €430 per sq m (€40 per sq ft) on the ground floor and €161 per sq m (€15 per sq ft) overhead. Retail units will range in size from 53-328sq m (570-3,531sq ft) while office suites will be between 162 (1,744sq ft) and 377sq m (4,058sq ft).
Laura Keenan of Colm McEvoy said they were hoping to attract many mainstream retailers to trade alongside Dunnes Stores. The complex would deliver an all-round convenience facility with ease of access, plenty of car parking and a variety of facilities for customers.
The centre will be close to the newly opened Avoca Store at Rathcoole. A new road from the N81 is due to run alongside the Slade Castle shopping centre and join up with the M7.
The development will also include 250 residential units which will strengthen the appeal of Saggart.
