Carrolls’s Irish Gifts: to open its 14th store

One of the best retail locations in Kilkenny, the former Sam McAuley Chemist on High Street, is to become home to Carrolls’s Irish Gifts as the trader opens its 14th store. The chemist has moved to a new flagship store in the former Sherwoods premises a few doors away on High Street.

The transaction involved an assignment of an existing lease of 34 High Street at €105,000 per annum together with the purchase of the freehold of 33 High Street which had been owned by the McCauley group. Stephen Murray, who acted for Carrolls, said the company had an active requirement for further outlets in busy tourist towns with live opportunities already presented in about six towns and cities.
