Bank of Ireland pursues couple for €19 million

A Dublin man has been ordered to repay some €19 million to Bank of Ireland arising from various property loans

A Dublin man has been ordered to repay some €19 million to Bank of Ireland arising from various property loans. Summary judgment was also entered against his wife over one of the same loans.

The bank brought the proceedings over a €15 million loan advanced in 2007 to Des and Marie O’Donnell, Leopardstown Rise, Dublin, to refinance an existing borrowing with First Active in relation to a site at Newtownpark Avenue, Blackrock, Dublin, and to allow for an equity release of €5 million.

In court documents, the bank said the first loan to Mr O’Donnell, made in October 2006 for €2.65 million, was for purchase of a site at St Canice’s Church, Finglas, Dublin, and restructuring an existing bridging loan.
