The personal assistant to the former managing director of Bord na Móna has claimed before the High Court the company had tried to “get rid of her” because her ex-boss had sued the company.

Frances Stokes (38), Tullamore Road, Co Offaly, who worked with the firm for almost 20 years until she went on sick leave, allegedly due to work- related stress, is suing the company over alleged bullying, intimidation, harassment and breach of contract.

Ms Stokes was PA to former Bord na Móna MD John Hourican and claims she is entitled to remain as PA to his successor. The company had sought to demote her to a lower position. She is also seeking damages.
